I was waiting for Allen to pick me up for the night. We were going out to meet some of his friends at a hockey game. I did not care for the amount of violence nor really the game itself, but I knew that he liked it. I was still trying to be the agreeable little fiancé, as long as I could. After my talk with Joseph the night before, it made me wonder if I could really go through with this. How could I really let somebody dictate such a large part of my life? What would I have left that was mine?
The fact that he had turned me down in the midst of it was a whole other subject. A very sore subject, if I was honest with myself. It had taken me a lot to go over to his house in the middle of the night. It wasn't just a logistics of the security, but the courage as well to defy everything to go to him.
Then, after I had put myself out there in a way that was still embarrassing to think about, he decided that it wasn't enough. That I wasn't enough and had sent me back home, without much more than a few kisses. How was I ever supposed to rectify that in my mind?
Now I was waiting for Allen and of course, I could see that the neighbor was home next door. He wasn't just home, but he had wickedly taken his shirt off and was unloading some bricks that were for landscaping in the front. I found myself staring through the window and wishing that he would change his mind. How hard would it have been for him to just give me what I needed? Then I wouldn't be standing in such a state right now.
Not much had changed, at least that's what I had thought. Now I was seeing things in a whole new light. Joseph was quite a bit different than he used to be. He had always been muscular, but now they were bigger muscles and more definition than before. There were not more lumps and bumps that I wanted to play with. I couldn’t help the desire that took over.
He had also gotten a little bit more hair on his chest, and the color of the skin was a little bit darker. Maybe there was even a tattoo on his shoulder, I wasn't sure what it was. It certainly wasn't there before. It reminded me of a time where I had washed his back and I knew that it wasn't there before. Why was I so interested in what it was now? I think it was going to be some clue.
Whatever it was, I wasn’t going to have a chance to find out, because Allen was pulling into the driveway. Like the gentleman that he was, he refused to get out of the car. Instead, he honked from the driveway and I blew a quick breath out of my lips.
